🏁RIP Nip 💙

Stephy Says 💋 whether you know who Nipsey Hussle is or not, you’ve seen his name flash across your screen or on your social media pages in a large volume over the course of the last week.

*This is a disclaimer that nothing I could possibly write would ever be enough to reflect the legacy of Nipsey or describe his character, but I will do my absolute best.*

According to ET & The New York Times, the legendary Grammy nominated rapper and community activist, Nipsey Hussle (born Ermias Asghedom) was fatally shot multiple times by coward Eric Holder in front of his clothing store The Marathon in Los Angeles, Crenshaw district where he grew up. This shooting happened moments later after an interaction. LA Times states, “He re-emerged at the Marathon Clothing store on Sunday. The two men talked, shook hands and Holder left.” The coward then returned and fired shots.

This unfortunate & painful news struck the hearts of fans & individuals nationwide. Developing stories added more details revealed that Nipsey’s brother was contacted, and his brother Samiel, rushed to his side for his final moments (LA Times).

Nip was the lover of the beautiful actress, Lauren London. Honestly, their relationship is initially the reason I even Googled Nipsey Hussle. The way he loved her & the way she glowed because of his love was heart-warming. They were true #relationshipgoals. Whenever I saw a post, if I saw him, I saw her. He acknowledged her, loved her, taught her, and respected her. He encouraged and motivated other men to do the same.

We waited days for a response from her as she was heavy in our prayers along with his family. Her response broke us all as she posted this message to him on her Instagram feed:

It seems like this death hurts a little more each day. This loss hurts & seems to be more personal & closer to home.

Stephy Says 💋 here’s why: besides loving his woman the way all women dream of being loved & treated, he was a father, a community activist, a philanthropist, and a poster child for how you can turn your life around; even if your choices in the past weren’t the best. He motivated. He protected. He was selfless. He invested. He was leader. He was an example. Nipsey is the man every woman dreams of having, the man every man dreams to be. He lived a life that proved that he was a “good guy” & naturally a good man.

Some critics may focus on the fact that he is a member of gang, Rollin 60 Neighborhood Crips. While this may be true, Nipsey turned a negative lifestyle into a positive one & impacted the lives of many in the same neighborhood he grew up.

Nipsey never abandoned his community even when other felt he should have left the “hood” . He bought the very same block where he was arrested during gang banging years. He owned and operated a business where he employed those who weren’t likely to be employed elsewhere. His aim was to inspire, educate, invest, & advance the black community. Never greedy, but always business minded and willing to teach our community how to grow.

Along side being an entrepreneur, a community activist, & philanthropist, Nipsey not only dropped knowledge on how to advance financially and mentally, he was dropping knowledge on how to advance physically and health wise by providing the community with Dr. Sebi’s regime to restore health. He was set to do a documentary on Dr. Sebi’s case against New York for claims to have cured diabetes, AIDS, & various illnesses, in which Dr. Sebi won. Nipsey was ready to share with the world all of Dr. Sebi’s case & shed light on his great works.

The impact he made was recognized by Russell Westbrook of NBA team OKC when he dedicated his 20-20-20 stats to Nipsey. Support from other celebrities poured in.

His mother leaves these words, “I have perfect peace, and I have strength, and I want to lift you up. Please do not stay down, do not stay stuck, do not mourn. Because Nipsey is great […] and now he’s even greater because he has no bounds and limits. His energy is everywhere. He’s there with you now and he’s here with me now. And pleased be encouraged.”

Nipsey’s funeral is scheduled for April 11, 2019 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. According to BET, ““BET REMEMBERS: NIPSEY HUSSLE” TO AIR  ON BET AND STREAM ON BET NEWS’ FACEBOOK PAGE
https://www.facebook.com/NewsBET/ THURSDAY, APRIL 11 AT 1 PM ET

📲Confessions of A Cell Phone Addict

Stephy Says 💋 I will be the 1st person to loudly & proudly admit that I am addicted to my cell phone. There is no point in time that I can be without my phone. Some of the older generation would probably say that it’s an unhealthy addiction, but of course, I beg to differ.

There are times that I use my cell phone for business such as marketing, blogging, networking, and building a brand. However, most of the time, it’s for personal enjoyment.

Don’t you love the thrill of receiving a text message from that special someone? Or the nagging notifications you receive from posts that have absolutely nothing to do with you…

From time to time, I often wonder what I did without a cell phone. I am kind of a sociable loner, like a lot of people I know, but I am mostly alone. My phone saves my life & keeps me entertained.

I got my first cell phone was I was 13. Back then, it was the regular old flip phone that lacked a LCD screen. No screen meant I had to physically open the phone to see who was calling. Texting wasn’t quite a thing back then, or at least not for everyday conversation. Texting was only used for “important” times or emergencies and the templates included:

 Sorry, in a meeting.
 I’ll call you back.
 Sorry, unable to talk.

Not to mention, you had to push the button a million times to finally get to the letter you wanted. Might I add, that phone was also prepaid on a Verizon network. After that, the flip phones started upgrading to those fancy Motorola Razors. I had the sleek gray one. I went through almost every phone phase. That’s one of the joys of being an addict. Just to name a few, I had the Rumor, Blackberry Curve, Blackberry Storm, Chocolate, iPhone 4, Galaxy S6, iPhone 6, and now the iPhone 8s Plus. Of course, I want the new iPhone, partly because I feel like it will have better features, but I mostly want it because it’s new.

So, as a phone addict, let me tell you my absolute favorite apps

Twitter (follow me @1STEPahed) just to shoot the breeze with complete strangers or talk to myself lol
Pinterest (follow me @ www.pinterest.com/1STEPahed) just to see the latest makeup trends, fashion trends, marketing ideas for the blog, tattoo ideas, and random cute puppies & turtles.
Instagram (follow me @ijs_stephysays) which is basically a picture diary & I can see everyone else’s life & they can see mine. I also use it for marketing.
Facebook & Facebook Pages (like me on Facebook www.facebook.com/stephy-says) for personal use as well as business use. I connect with people or just scroll down my newsfeed & browse comments under the juicy statuses.
Swiftkey– it allows me to personalize my keyboard. Personalization was one of the abilities I thought I lost when I switched to iPhone.
Buzzfeed because I love the random quizzes & posts they share.
Spinrilla to download all my music for free & it doesn’t use my data to play my favorite song like Pandora (although, I love Pandora).
Flo just to keep track of my lady events, if you know what I mean.

The games I downloaded are:

Family Guy Quest for stuff (a really pointless & stupid game, but highly addictive)
Homescapes (help a young man salvage the mansion of his parents by completing levels & obtaining stars to complete tasks)
Cookie Jam (similar to Candy Crush where arrange pieces into intervals of 3 to watch them disappear)
Helix Jump (a game in which you have to successfully complete the puzzle without touching the “no no” pieces)
They’re all kind of boring now.

Let me give you some brief positives of being a phone addict

± people call you in emergencies because they know you are dependable & always answer your phone
± you’re a well of information when people need answers because they ask you to Google, thus making you an essential resource.

The negative is YOUR PHONE DIES FAST !!

What are some apps you have on your phone?

🏆Grammys 2019

Stephy Says 💋 if you didn’t get a chance to watch the 61st Recording Academy Grammys, here’s a recap–the awards were hosted by the beautiful Alicia Keys. In my honest opinion, her hosting was dry & boring. Aside from that, her first outfit was a no go for me. It had a “night gown” feel and lacked elegance for the occasion. However, I get her concept of comfort.

The 2nd outfit was my favorite & was extra cute. This critique isn’t one of her outfit of choice. This time I will speak on her performance. I didn’t necessarily enjoy her rendition of the Drake “In my Feelings” cover or the spins she placed on the Lauryn Hill covers, but there are some who enjoyed it. Her voice didn’t seem as strong and soulful as I remember it being when I was growing up.

A. Keys 3rd outfit, oversized leather jumpsuit had a “trashbag” to me, but once again, the comfortable theme stuck .

The final outfit was my 2nd favorite & she was stunning.

Check out some of the winners here. Congratulations to all the winners:

In addition to the list of winners, here a few pics of my favorite looks & best dressed according to what Stephy Says 💋

While some celebrities slayed the Grammys, others missed the mark. These my least favorite looks according to what Stephy Says 💋

Stephy Says 💋 highlights :

J. Lo’s tribute to Motown was flawless. I must admit I was nervous when I heard she would be doing the Motown performance. Buttt J. Lo delivered the heat. (Pictures courtesy of Hollywood life.)
Cardi B had an amazing night with a flawless performance to her hit Money. Her performance was perfect besides her necklace falling off in the middle of the perform. Don’t worry, she handled it like a boss. Okkurrrttt 👌🏽 Offset was a happy supportive husband, and looked at her like he was really in love. He almost looked like he was sorry for that cheating scandal that took place last year.
Cardi B made history tonight by becoming the first female rapper to win a Grammy for best rap album of the year.
Diana Ross blazed the stage in sheer beauty as she celebrated her 75th birthday. She’s just as beautiful as ever & can sannnnngggg. Flawless performance except a brief moment when her throat scratched.
Travis Scott was a complete animal & the dopest crowd surfer.

H.E.R delivered a breathtaking performance. Her guitar & singing combined was impeccable.

And Drake accepted his award looking like a snack. He also delivered a heart felt speech that got a tad bit long winded & had it cut off.

**For more photos from the 2019 61st Grammys, visit Hollywood life.

Overall, I must say, the Grammys was a success & worth the watch.

😠Taraji P. & Erykah Badu Create Outrage

Stephy Says 💋 if you haven’t heard, Taraji P. Henson has sparked a flame & has some fans outraged.

David Barden wrote this article just this morning at 4:01 AM & Huffpost released this story 😱

Apparently, Taraji P. attempted to equate & compare the Surviving R. Kelly (#muteRKelly) to the old sick skeezer Harvey Weinstein. She basically reportedly called out society for the hushed responds to Harvey Weinstein’s sex assaults while R. Kelly’s flourished all over the internet.

In the alleged deleted Instagram video, Taraji searched the #muteRKelly hashtag & yielded multiple results, while #muteHarveyWeinstein only yielded 1 result used on 29 posts.

Her attempt to compare the two left Twitter users in a frenzy stating that they aren’t sure what her point is, or what exactly she’s trying to prove.

After the stir on social media, Taraji comes back to clarify in attempt to make things right.

This post will be updated as the story updates.

🚨More articles posted here & here 🚨

If you haven’t been following the story, Erykah Badu stated that she was “praying for R. Kelly,” & some felt as if she was “letting him off the hook” or downsizing his crimes to”poor choices” & condoning his behavior.

Screenshot courtesy of Pitchfork

Even with the backlash, Erykah Badu supports his healing. (Stephy Says 💋 not excusing his behavior but, be open minded & remember that even if he turned out to be a sexual predator, he was once a victim).

With her choice of words being taken out of context, this set off the Twitter fans & they are backing her.

She was accused of stating that R. Kelly has done more for the black community than any one has & here’s her clarification for that :

Erykah Badu entered a Twitter war with the executive director of Surviving R. Kelly docu-series. According to Jezebel, Erykah Badu denies ever being asked to be in the Surviving R. Kelly docu-series.

🗣Soulja Boy Told’em

Stephy Says 💋 Soulja Boy is back & this time he is on a come up. This is a come back & I must say, I’m LOVING this guy now! He’s headlining the internet & I am here for it!

He just about broke the internet with 3.5 million views on his interview with the Breakfast Club in 24 hours 😱

If you haven’t been following Soulja Boy’s stories, here’s a clip from the Breakfast Club Interview with Soulja Boy. He’s back & demanding his respect for making these “relevant” rappers who they are today. Soulja Boy calls out Drake for stealing his line, flow, and bars. He even goes as far as saying, “I taught him everything he know.”

In addition to calling out Drake, Soulja Boy also went in on Kanye West bashing him for supporting President Trump. Pop Culture released an article of Soulja Boy’s words about Yeezy. He said everything he wanted to say & he did so with no remorse stating,

“You up here supporting Trump and s—,” he said. “You supporting Trump, bruh? What the f— wrong with you, bruh. That s— not right, bruh. I have sat back long enough and I’m not holding my tongue no more, bruh. Kanye, call me, get in tune with me cause if not I’m going to keep checking you.”

“My folks went through too much s— for you to be out here doing this goofy s—,” he went on. “My grandaddy been through too much, my grandma and great grandaddy, they from Mississippi and they from Mississipi, we went through slavery and s—. You gotta put on for the black community.”

Soulja Boy is cutting no slack on anyone! He has also been trolling Ariana Grande on Twitter & accusing her of stealing his flow From Kiss me Through the Phone. Crazy enough, it seems like he has the fan support.

I’m not sure of the age range of those reading my blog, but here are a few songs Soulja Boy is known for:

  • Crank That (and that hit had everybody doing the yooooouuuuu)
  • Kiss Me Through the Phone
  • Yahhh!
  • Pretty Boy Swag
  • Turn My Swag On
  • Donk

  • According to hotnewhiphop.com, one of the Migos, Quavo, confirmed that Soulja Boy influenced alot of the music we are hearing today. If you read the article (hotnewhiphop.com) as previously mentioned, Quavo’s statement was “Soulja most definitely influenced a lot of everybody’s work. He’s speaking facts. He hasn’t said anything wrong.”
  • In addition to Quavo’s support, Soulja Boy also has the support of Meek Mill.
  • Hiphopdx.com mentioned in their article that countless people backed Big Soulja up on Twitter, demanding others give Soulja credit where credit is due.

  • Revolt released an article titled “9 ways Soulja Boy revolutionized today’s hip hop culture”. Do you agree? Let me know in the comments 📥📥

  • *According to Twitter:

  • Billboard released their article about Soulja Boy beefs here

  • I think it’s safe to say Soulja Boy is once again a sensation!

    😒Bitter Broads

In case you guys had no idea, I am also a published author & aside from blogging, I write stories. Check out this excerpt from my short story “Game Over.”

💋You know the warm fuzzy feeling you get when that special someone calls? And that tingling feeling you get in your stomach from being in love? You know how it is to be in love, right? Yeah, me neither.

And I’m tired of everyone around me acting like they are so in love. They know like I know that everybody cheats. Men, women, boys & girls. But especially men.

You wanna know where your prince charming is? Somewhere cheating.

What about the “knight in shining armor?”

Somewhere in another woman’s face lying and hyping her up. And guess what else? She’s believing it.

He’s texting her and 3 other women the same “good morning beautiful” text; and every time he posts a status on social media about his girl or “bae,” they are all believing that she is the one he’s referring to.

She’s telling the world that she’s in love & can’t live without him. She’s surfing the internet looking for wedding dresses and planning her dream wedding because she has met the man of her dreams. She has bought all the false dreams he’s sold her. She’s bought by false hope.

Meanwhile, he’s in some other woman’s DM or inbox getting her number and making her feel special too. I swear some of y’all mamas raised boo boo the fool. I was a fool two times. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me & I was definitely ashamed.

I’m convinced, ain’t no such thing as love & the people that are “in love” are faking the funk just to say they have somebody. These men got these women out here looking stupid; and then they get mad when somebody  try to tell them that their man is for everybody. But I can’t say too much because I was out here looking stupid too. Malcolm and Braxton had me fooled.

That love stuff is for the birds and those men ain’t nothing but old bats, buzzards, chickens, and turkeys. Love ain’t real. I’m starting to think it’s just a myth.

These women that are “in love” think they are winning, but in reality they’re losing.

You know what they are losing? Their cotton picking minds. Especially if they think they are the only one.

What’s even crazier is when a man approaches

you and you bring up the fact that he has a girlfriend, he has the nerve to say stupid things like “I can have friends” or “what my girl don’t know won’t hurt her” like that justifies cheating. I heard that was Malcolm’s response, but that didn’t surprise me. However, I was shocked to learn that this was Braxton’s answer too.

I start thinking to my self, “Well, she’s gonna know ‘cuz I’m gonna tell her.”

Then I snap myself out of that trance, knowing good and doggone well that she wouldn’t believe me if I did try to tell her.

See, men like that are single in your inbox begging for a phone number & time to “chill,” but are the same men “in love” on Facebook.

Boy, please! They are the first ones participating in “Woman crush Wednesday.”

I can’t help but roll my eyes at that kind of foolishness. I’m not hating on nobody’s relationship, but I know half of them ain’t what it’s crapped up to be. Cuz me and Malcolm had everybody thinking we was all peaches and cream. Don’t even get me started on Braxton. I was actually foolish enough to marry him. So, don’t take what I’m saying personal because it applies to me too. I’m not exempt. If the shoe fits, you gotta lace that ish up and wear it. But if I’m not stepping on your toes, don’t worry about what I’m saying.

All men gonna do is lie and cheat. All they want from women is “a little piece of tail,” booty calls, wham-bam-thank you ma’am, hit it and quit it, smash & pass or whatever you want to call it..

You may think I am a Bitter Broad, but I’m not.

I have my reasons. Let me tell you about Lamont. Or maybe Tyrone. Or maybe Rondell. Tyreek. Wallace. Chris. Champion. Whatever, you get the picture.

I really thought Braxton was the one, but as it turns out, he was a nickel that couldn’t handle this dime. He was too busy throwing away a diamond to pick up a bunch of rocks.
