๐ŸMamba Out ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ•Š

Stephy Says ๐Ÿ’‹, January 26, 2020…a day we will all remember. It seems to be a day that for a moment, the world stood still. The day we lost a legend, kids lost their father, & a mother lost her husband & child. THE Kobe Bryant & his daughter, Gianna Bryant along with 7 others succumbed to death out of what seems to be nowhere.

I’m sure there are no words I could even formulate to describe this tragic loss, but, here is my attempt to honor & remember a legend & one he was creating.

You could see in pictures how much she loved & respected her father. You could feel the genuine bond between those two. Though it’s tragic, I can find a small bit of comfort in knowing that they were together in their death just like we were in life. He was there during her first breath, & there during her last. Whether he was able to do much is irrelevant, the point is–HE WAS THERE. It’s funny how life happens full circle.

Death. This word doesn’t seem as if it’s supposed to be attached to these names. I remember sitting in the chair in front of the TV watching the Pro bowl. My phone vibrated from the local news app just like any other day. Normally, I swipe up & clear it, but yesterday I pulled it down to see the alert. I have no idea what the whole caption said, all I remember is “Kobe Bryant dead.” I read it out loud, my brother who’s always been a die hard fan, was shocked into disbelief. And like many others, his initial response was. “Kobe?…..Bryant?” As if we knew any other Kobe. Any other moments, my response would have been sarcastic, but this time, I understood his question all too well. I took to Twitter with the story & a caption reading huhhhhhh?? Only to find that it was true.

My heart broke instantly. Perhaps, this seemed unreal because we had grown up watching him persevere through injuries (broken nose, blown Achilles, knee injuries, sprained ankles, shoulder injuries, etc) that the average person wouldn’t dare push through. Maybe his invincibility on the court made us so sure that the Black Mamba could handle anything life threw at him, not even thinking anything about death. He was a hero. I can almost bet that his daughters & family felt the same.

Hearing the news, my heart broke because though I didn’t know Kobe, I knew what he meant to fans. The way other players cried when they found out the news, shows how special Kobe was.

I won’t pretend to be a superfan, but I am a fan. Although he has departed life, I am STILL a fan. He will forever be alive, in memories, in thoughts, & in hearts.

I was never a Lakers fan, but ALWAYS a Kobe fan. I always described it as not having a favorite team, but having favorite players. Ironically enough, Kobe’s closest friends (D. Wade & LeBron James were among the list).

I won’t pretend that I followed his whole career, however, I know the impact he made during his career. I remember going to basketball courts, & seeing young boys & classmates try to imitate his signature moves.

I remember playing the Sega Genesis back in the day, when Kobe was heavily pixelated, & hardly recognizable except the #8 on his jersey. Im talking about back in the day when Vlade Divac was playing. The Shaq & Kobe days. Back when all you heard was, “From downtown! Swish! He’s on fire!”

Admit it, I just brought back some memories.

To add to memories, in middle & high school–anytime ANYTHING was thrown away it was an unwritten rule that you had to fade away & yell “Kobe!”

I remember hearing young athletes comparing him to Michael Jordan & stating that Kobe was the “Michael Jordan” of our time. But when it all came down to it, the final ruling is this-Kobe was Kobe & there was only one. The passionate, yet loving arguments of who the GOAT really was still ring in my ears.

The love that men, especially men of color, had & have for Kobe is something special. Seeing tears from some many men resonates in my heart. Kobe not only changed the game of basketball & his family, he changed the lives of fans. He was a role model, something as close to a father or brother as many black males would ever get. I’m sure on several occasions, Kobe was the first to teach them how to dribble their first ball, how to post up, or how to make a simple layup. Many fell in love with the game because of Kobe. He had a way of connecting with the black male population in way that no one else could.

Yes– he was an athlete, but before all that & above all that, he was a human. He was a father, a husband, a son, a brother, a coach, a friend, an inspiration. He changed lives both on & off the court. Out of all the things he accomplished in his life time, I’d like to think his family was the one he was proud of the most. Vanessa is forever in our thoughts, prayers, & hearts. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’› #Mamba #Mambacita

While the primary focus of this blog post is on the legend, I cannot leave out nor forget the other victims whose death is equally as tragic. Their lives are equally as important. Today & everyday, we remember all the victims –we honor these fathers, daughters, sisters, brothers, & mothers. We call names, let’s make sure their names are not forgotten ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ.

๐Ÿ‘ธ๐ŸฝCrystal Banks ๐Ÿ“ธ

Stephy Says ๐Ÿ’‹ there is talent right under your nose if you look or pay attention to it. With that being said, please allow me to introduce the melanated modelesque queen, Crystal Banks. 3 words to define her: FIERCE. ENCHANTING. MESMERIZING.

“There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty.”

โ€” Steve Maraboli

Stephy Says ๐Ÿ’‹ she cannot be ignored. In fact, she has a face that you automatically notice, or perhaps maybe, it’s her glow & aura that hits you first. Whatever it is, when you come across her, you KNOW it. Her face is stunning, & it’s pure & alluring with beauty. Her modeling talent is in a class of its own. Her vitality is contagious.

As we all know, just because someone has a pretty face, doesnโ€™t necessarily make them model. However, in this case, Crystal is more than just a pretty face. She was MADE to do this. A model isn’t what she does, it’s who she is. Her confidence & sexiness blares through each photo thatโ€™s captured. The quality of the photos & the poses she strikes are intoxicating. From the hint of sparkle in her eyes to the structure of her facial features, she is a visual body of work. Time after time, she strikes poses that are perfectly formed & vary from sharp & precise to soft & subtle–powerful, yet gentle–strong, yet approachable.

Stereotypically, society used to deem a model as thin or small in frame or stature. Crystal defies these stereotypes as she embraces her curves & serves the body she has with perfection. In my opinion, this gives so much life! She has redefined the word “model,” & set her own standards. She is easily an inspiration to both women & young girls–ESPECIALLY those of color. I’m speaking for us all when I say, we salute you & appreciate you Queen โœŠ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ–ค.

๐Ÿ“ธPhoto credit : Kool Kreation

She is a work of fine art with even toned skin, & makes the viewer, both male & female, stop in their tracks to admire her. Though she wears no literal crown, she gives queen energy; however, her beautiful locs adorn her head creating her own crown of royalty.

She serves both body & face in timeless & breathtaking photos. Her work as a model creates two moods in the viewer: it draws you in, then it blows you away. Every time she attends a photo shoot, she delivers. DROP. DEAD. GORGEOUS. —๐Ÿ‘๐ŸฝEVERY๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ SINGLE ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸฝTIME! She is guaranteed to turn heads with her uncontested beauty. She’s beautiful. She’s radiant. She’s ravishing. SHE is Queen ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿฝ Crystal Banks.

…& She’s a force to be reckoned with. I’m more than certain she will be one of the next big names in the industry.

Stephy Says ๐Ÿ’‹ Be on the lookout, Queen B is on her way! And we are here for it! โœจ

๐Ÿ’‰Mister Enigma โœ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

Stephy Says ๐Ÿ’‹, got ink? ๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿ’‰

Wanna be dipped in ink? ๐Ÿ’‰

โ—๏ธOnce more, Twitter has struck again. Please allow me to introduce the talented artist, Mister Enigma–owner & mastermind behind the business & brand –>Safe Haven Tattoos.

If you have been tuning in to the Stephy Says ๐Ÿ’‹ Show, you have probably heard his name a few times (and by now you should be following him because Stephy Said It).

โ—๏ธLet me explain a few reasons why he has been worthy of these shout outs:

โ€ข He creates with the utmost care & attention to EVERY detail

โ€ข His creative mind is unmatched.

โ€ข His artistic style is a bold expression, & it is deeply infused with his passion for drawing & creating.

โ€ข His art form is a multidimensional space where a variety of thoughts and ideas coexist. Creativity meets reality. The two worlds collide & burst into a mind blowing creation.

๐ŸšจIf you havenโ€™t had a chance to check out his work, (with his permission), I have included some pictures below.

Time & time again, Mister Enigma breathes new life into the art of drawing & tattooing. In each piece he creates, he helps us see his vision. I must admit, watching his YouTube videos have been satisfying to see an empty slate come to life with each stroke of ink. Each canvas he fills tells a story, & each time the story is different. I don’t know about you, but I LOVE a good story. He uses bodies & blank pages as a canvas, ready to be filled. His art appeals to your emotions & eyes. He flawlessly creates art for all ever changing moods that range from fun & flirty, medieval or explicit.

His knack for originality is unparalleled. In other words, Stephy Says ๐Ÿ’‹ , when it comes to the tattooing & drawing thing, you ainโ€™t fw him!

IMHO (in my honest opinion), his work is a portrayal of a mixture of his imagination & real-life observations, resulting an end outcome that is impressively & perfectly executed. In fact, his imaginative world transforms the visible world, and you are able to step into his mind through his artwork.

It is more than evident that his artistry is fueled by his passion for art, both drawing & tattooing. Honestly, his work & his talent is uncontainable and has no boundaries. His level of creating is out of the box & simply out of this world. EXTRATERRESTRIAL ๐Ÿ’ซ

His art does 3 words: CAPTURES, COMMUNICATES, & CONVEYS

His technique is both distinguished & deeply thoughtful. He pushes the limits & creates daring masterpieces. His artistic approach is an oxymoron as it is a simplistically complex one. Each drawing is original & never duplicated. Iโ€™ve enjoyed taking the journey with his art. In two short words, Mister Enigma is an ARTISTIC GENIUS!

๐ŸŽคThe Voice: Malik Davรกge๐ŸŽถ

Stephy Says ๐Ÿ’‹, once again, social media has introduced me to another dope unsigned artist. Ladies & gentlemen, please allow me to introduce, Malik Davรกge.

If you are wondering if you’ve heard this name or seen this face before; perhaps you remember him as a contestant on season 12 of NBC’S, The Voice as he won the support of Adam Levine resulting in Adam turning his chair around during blind auditions. Though his journey there ended, his music career is just getting started. His followers, likes, supporters, & fans continue to grow & soar.

In addition to his debut on The Voice, Malik has also performed on BET’s 106 & Park connecting with the audience giving them R&B vibes.

I’m not sure if you’ve ever heard him sing before, but his voice is pure & idiosyncratic (distinctive). There’s undoubtedly only ONE Malik Davรกge. The creative vibes & intoxicating energy he gives in his music will transport you to another realm. He creates “feel good” music, the type of music you can ride to AND vibe to. His music puts you “in the zone” and his works are ones to get lost in. He makes the kind of music that makes you want to sing with him, EVEN if you can’t sing. He, along with his music, can be described as memorable with quotable lyrics. He successfully captures emotions & place then into songs. I swear his songs get better with each repeated play. His ability to orchestrate each rhythmic tune is impeccable. In other words, he can put together dope music–rhythms & lyrics. As I follow his music career, I see the constant growth & level up as an artist. He reinvents himself & keeps himself current. I witness him work to become the best artist he can be for his supporters. Let me add that not only is he an artist, he’s an entertainer. Each performance he gives energy & stage presence along with delivering vocals.

I remember seeing one of his covers on Twitter, & constantly retweeting it just so it wouldn’t go away. Unfortunately, Twitter temporarily suspended his account, & his presence has definitely been missed on the TL (timeline).

I’ve been a top fan for a while ๐Ÿ˜

(Don’t worry Malik! We are fighting for you to return to Twitter ๐Ÿ˜‰)

Stephy Says ๐Ÿ’‹ if you aren’t already, join the experience & follow the journey of Malik Davage!! He’s down to earth & relatable. You won’t be disappointed!

09.10.21 update:

Malik has posted on his Instagram & Facebook the following message:

Any new music you see with my name on it, I didn’t put out and I don’t get paid from it. It’s all the labels choice. I’m not a part of any song picking process nor can I create my own content and put it out on my own. I don’t own any right to anything with the name MALIK DAVรGE attached to it music wise. My creative freedom was taken and it won’t be given back which is why I don’t do music anymore. I do wanna say thank you for all the support over the years. But bottom line is I signed a terrible deal and turned my passion into something I just don’t care about anymore. Regardless of the situation is due to personal or business reasons, it’s just not fun anymore. I choose not to be seen and really don’t want to be seen atp (at this point) in my life. Again thank you all (for) the love and support over the years. But I think I’m solid on not putting out music.

His caption reads:

Account will be down by 12 noon eastern time or earlier. And I’m gonna close out by saying DO NOT FEEL FOR ME. IT WAS A DECISION TO SIGN IT AND I GOT THE BAD END OF THE DEAL. I appreciate you guys for understanding ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ
